How and when to use Argan Oil

By now, you should have heard of Argan Oil from Morroco a gazillion times yah?

Argan this. Argan that. Argan here. Argan there. Argan everywhere!

Especially if the marketing strategy includes ‘aesthetic words’ like From Morocco, Cold-Pressed, Dermatologically tested, Natural, Organic, Serum etc.

Today, I want to talk about this innocent, humble but very famous nut called Argan.

Argan oil comes from the nuts of the argan tree.

It has a high content of Alpha Tocopherols (think Vitamin E), Carotene (think Vitamin A), Phytosterols (think Cholesterol), and Omega 6 fatty acids (this is not Omega 3 in fish oil).

The fruit of the argan tree is green and looks like an olive…

only fatter – Argan nuts are much larger and rounder. Inside, there is a hard-shelled nut which is actually about 1/4 of the flesh fruit weight (that’s heavy!)

The nut can contain up to 3 kernels…. and they are the ones being extracted to give you the all-time favourite Argan Oil.

The picture here shows you a dried fruit followed by the nut inside fruit and the last one is the seed inside the nut. Cool siaaaaa…

The process of extraction is very tedious. Because its demand is high GLOBALLY, only until recently when mechanical presses are introduced (which makes the process cheaper), Argan Oil extraction prices are reduced and sold to markets at a lower price. Hence, YOU get this liquid gold CHEAPER.

Argan Oil absorption rate is medium. Meaning, it’s doesn’t quickly absorb into the skin – which is why oily skin does not find this oil favourable.

Argan Oil is rich in Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6 and E.

What is Argan Oil used for? My answer is plethora!!!

  • Argan oil is rich in omega 6 essential fatty acids, which stimulate, protect and regenerate the skin, helping to make it soft, supple and elastic.
  • It aids skin healing and has a soothing effect on the body/skin
  • In before and after sun care products
  • Excellent ingredient for use in skin regeneration products for damaged or mature skin
  • It is said to be especially good for the regeneration of the skin in the upper chest and neck area
  • In eye care products treating sensitive and wrinkled areas around the eye
  • Acne and eczema treatment products
  • The oil has a nutty aroma and tastes very good in a salad dressing combined with lemon juice

So how and when do you use Argan Oil?

First of all, if you have an oily skin, i dont recommend you to use Argan Oil during the day because it will make you even oilier. Use it at night before bedtime… because it has plenty of time to absorb into the skin, repair and nourish the skin while you sleep.

Argan oil is natural. You can use it on your hair, scalp, face, neck, body and feet. Take note of its absorption rate : Medium.

People who are blessed with normal skin – use it when necessary, as and when you like because you’re definitely not going to be affected by its oilyness or greasiness.

Unfortunately if your skin are going thru hell and it’s dry – i suggest you increase your fatty acid intake first such as Omega 3 and load up on greens! Eat your veggies! Then use Argan Oil daily.

If you’re an avid makeup user or have to use makeup by force due to your professional career, use Argan Oil as a primer. Oily skinners take note that it’s going to be a lil bit oily but will make your makeup last very long.

Did you know that you can make Argan Oil a premium, luxury oil if you do this step ???

If you’re adventurous and daring like me, like to explore botanicals and its superficial values, mix Argan Oil with any of these essential oils for extra beauty kicks! All you need is ONE DROP of any of the below essential oils! Whatsapp me directly if you have any questions. +6591780007.
