Stevia

Stevia – Is it good or bad?

Recently, a friend in Facebook posted that she was looking for an alternative to sweeteners.

And of course, I excitedly commented that she should choose Stevia.

Unfortunately, not all her friends were as excited as me.

A few people commented that Stevia caused some side effects.

Believe it or not, i snapped after reading their comments and i left ONE MORE comment explaining how they should choose for the “right Stevia”. Yes, the right one.

Why am i saying this? Because as a player in the health industry, you have lotsssssSSSSssss of competitors. You aim to get as many customers as you can, so that you’ll earn PROFIT.

So, Stevia is a good product TO SELL to people who are looking for alternatives to the deadly SUGAR.

I believe there are many people who are already aware of the benefits of Stevia – it’s from plant, it has no or low calories etc etc.

Good!

But something doesn’t come without disadvantages… especially when it’s food related.

This is the Stevia i chose to buy:

stevia

Why specifically did i choose this one?

The reason is its contents. Check it out.

Stevia

Don’t understand?

Total carbohydrate – 1g per serving, means 1g per packet. This is a VERY good sweetener because it’s low in carb. This means your blood sugar will not spike.

Dietary fiber – not established but due to restrictions they put it as 1g. Also, a very good product as it contains fiber. Helps you poop.

Chromium, derived from a registered trademark called Chromium Chelavite. According to the manufacturer NOW FOODS : “This form of Chromium is also known as “Glucose Tolerance Factor” (GTF) because it is most similar to the form that was originally isolated from a food source.”

Inulin – this is the ingredient that MOST of you do not know about. Inulin is a prebiotic and is non-digestible. It’s like eating a plastic but this is a good plastic that helps you digest foods better. I said IT’S LIKE eating a plastic… it’s NOT a plastic. Look at what they wrote again in brackets : Chicory Root. Means they got this Inulin stuff from the roots called Chicory. You can google yourself for the images.

Last but not least, Certified Organic Stevia Extract – the main stuff that you SHOULD be paying for. Firstly, it’s certified organic. Organic certifications are damn expensive. Now tell me, if you run a health company that pays hundreds of thousands to get certified as an organic product seller, wouldnt you be proud of this certification???!!! Yes? Exactly.

This is another part that MOST BUYERS DO NOT LOOK AT – Other ingredients: Silica.

Wth is silica and why is it used?

Silica is a mineral vital to your health actually. It promotes good bones and good general well-being. You only need very little amount of Silica. So this stuff here actually does more than harm. But remember, you need liiiiiitle amounts only.

So now you tell me. Check the labels of your Stevia.

  • Does it contain alcohol? Is it because you chose a flavored Stevia?
  • Does it contain glycerine? Is it because you chose a flavored Stevia?
  • Does it contain Rice Maltodextrin? This is a food additive so the product’s flavor is preserved or enhance its taste or appearance.
  • Does it have Magnesium Stearate? This is found in products that come in tablet form. It helps speed up the manufacturing process because it prevents ingredients from sticking to the mechanical equipment.
  • Is the product manufactured in a nut-, gluten- etc, free plant?
  • Is it GMP certified?

Compare the ones you have with mine. Tell me what you think or what may caused you to show side effects.
