We care so much for our face sometimes we neglect our feet. That is so unfair!
Cracked heels is a sign that your feet lack in proper skincare and nutrition. In my 3 years of experience, i observe that cracked heels are present in woman above 35 years of age and also housewives.
If you think care for your feet takes time and expensive, well, actually it’s so simple, affordable and of course completely safe!
Dry, broken heels need a liiiiittle bit of extra attention. I will elaborate further below:
Let’s take a cake as an example.
Everyone loves eating cakes right? Because it’s so yummy – soft, tender, spongy. But when the cake is dry, you know it even before you eat it! It breaks apart, crumbly and it’s definitely not soft.
So what could be wrong here?
If you bake, you immediately know that the ratio of wet and dry ingredients aren’t balanced! If you’ve never baked like me, i will think that there isn’t enough butter!
Now let’s put that simple theory into our current situation: Cracked Heels.
Unlike a cake which you cannot undo any changes once its baked, your cracked heels can!
The skin on your cracked heels is abit harder, less smooth and less sensitive compared to the skin on other parts of your body. But with proper skincare and nutrition, cracked heels CAN be healed!
Here’s how you can heal cracked heels naturally:
1. Increase fluid intake
You’ll need to increase your water intake. Drink RO or distilled water at least 2 litres everyday.
When your body is fully hydrated, your skin becomes smoother and softer.
2. Promote skin cell regeneration with Collagen (I have tonnes of products to recommend! Check out my fb page here. And my whitening + anti-aging shop here.)
You are also going to need collagen. Collagen helps regenerate your skin cells, make your skin supple, soft and smooth. If you consume collagen in the long run, you may even look younger than your real age!
However, consuming more collagen does not necessarily means better skin. Be careful not to over-consume fish collagen as it is high in protein.
3. Increase Vitamin C intake
The next most important thing is Vitamin C. You can purchase at your local pharmacy or choose to go completely au natural!
Squeeze fresh lemon juice and mix in warm water. Drink on empty stomach every morning. You’ll notice that not only your cracked heels are healing but also your complexion becomes fairer!
4. Try soaking your feet
If you’re adventurous, you can try soaking your feet too! I love soaking my feet! There are so many ingredients that you can use!
Avocado – softens your skin, contains high in Vitamin E
Yoghurt – deep cleanse, hydrates and removes foot odor
Apple Cider Vinegar – deep cleanse, remove odor and kills bacteria
Baking soda – cleanse just like a soap!
Oatmeal & Honey – exfoliates, remove dead skin cells and moisturizes
Simply add warm water in a pail (or your specially foot-soaking bucket bought at a spa) and add any ingredients that I have mentioned above. Soak your feet for 15 minutes, you can move your feet around, massage with your hands or even use a loofah! Enjoy!
Here’s a pic of my feet enjoying a self-made spa. I used avocado and Vitamin E oil.
See! You don’t need so much time and money to heal naturally. Most important thing is balance. When nutrition is balanced inside out, so does your body’s pH – your skin becomes healthy and can heal by itself!
5. Use a toner on your heels. Yes, you didn’t read it wrongly: Use a toner.
Just like your facial skin, your heels love the extra attention. Use your favorite toner on your heels 2-3x per week. Then apply your favorite moisturiser. Moisturisers with Cocoa Butter, Honey, Aloe Vera works extremely well in soothing and hydrating the super dry skin there.
